MetroStar Systems hosts first Town Hall with Congressman Gerry Connolly
We had the honor of hosting U.S. Representative Gerry Connolly (VA-11) on Monday, May 21st at MetroStar headquarters in Reston, Va. Rep. Connolly met with the MetroStar executive team and conducted a spirited Town Hall discussion with the entire Reston staff.
Rep. Connolly recognized MetroStar as a factor contributing to his district’s unparalleled growth and success. “This great small business is making government more mobile and efficient,” he said. MetroStar consists of over 170 employees from more than 30 cultural and educational backgrounds who inspire solutions and power change for the public and private sector on a continuous basis. MetroStar is consistently recognized for its rapid growth locally and nationally, and was the only Reston-based organization to receive a Computerworld Best Places to Work in IT award.
Congressman Connolly also discussed the importance of the three T’s: talent, technology and tolerance, as the driving forces behind the innovation and creativity of the burgeoning Northern Virginia technology community. He emphasized creative workers are attracted to a better work culture poised for actual growth which parallels MetroStar’s philosophy and summer internship program. The summer internship program offers interns a full-time internship with opportunity for a permanent position upon completion; it has achieved an 80% conversion rate of interns becoming full-time employees.
