CO.NX
Expand Outreach and Public Diplomacy

CO.NX (pronounced “Connects”) is an online public diplomacy team that organizes and engages communities around the world by organizing virtual events, webcasts and training programs. The U.S. Department of State sought out a Digital Strategies partner to help implement their eDiplomacy vision.

Putting Together the Right Team for the Job

MetroStar Systems supports CO.NX by staffing the program with a highly-capable team of Digital Strategies professionals. Our cross-functional team focuses on every aspect of the production process: from organizing webcasts across a variety of social media platforms; liaising with heads of state; strategizing international counterparts to build virtual diplomacy programs; facilitating and moderating online discussions targeting cultural, political, and geographic topics; developing video content; organizing the production schedules; to conducting live video broadcasts for large global audiences.

Cost-Effective, Highly-Scalable, Virtual Solutions

The MetroStar Systems CO.NX team expands the reach of the State Department’s public diplomacy initiatives through cost-effective, highly scalable, virtual solutions. The programs are free and open to all international audiences via the Internet, even in limited bandwidth environments, such as Pakistan and Afghanistan.

CO.NX is ‘platform agnostic’ and customizes programs to ensure that all participants can interact online, no matter what format they use. Program formats include: text-only webchats in twelve languages, audio-only webchats, video webchats with multi-bit adaptive streaming, which range from a standard webcam connection to high-definition, encoded video streams, live event webcasts, allowing viewers the opportunity to discuss live events with each other online in real-time, live streaming of interactive webcasts and webchats to Facebook, and streaming of live events, rebroadcasts, and on-demand recordings via an embedded video player in the CO.NX portal and U.S. Embassy content management system/websites. CO.NX can scale a simple text webchat to covering a major global event across four continents for mass audiences in the languages they speak. In the past 12 months, over 1,000 total number of programs were executed, with approximately 63,113 participants. CO.NX supports U.S embassies and missions in over 125 countries, and has a Facebook page following over 661,500 fans. The number of Facebook likes continue to grow daily.
